Types of Steel Pipe Fittings—Part Two

Forged pipe fittings:
Forged pipe fittings mainly include socket welded fittings and threaded fittings. Butt welded pipe fittings or fittings of mixed connection forms sometimes adopt forging manufacturing process, such as thick-wall small tee and branch pipe socket. At the same time, fittings of mixed connection forms at times are made of steel pipe.

A. Socket welded pipe fittings
Listed product standard of socket welded pipe fittings includes 45°bend, 90°bend, tee, cross, 45°tee, double socket pipe coupling, single socket coupling, pipe cap, union, branch pipe socket, among which tee and cross are classified into equal diameter and reducing diameter. Reducing double socket coupling can be divided into concentric and eccentric types.

B. Threaded pipe fittings
Listed product standard of threaded pipe fittings includes 45°bend, 90°bend, tee, cross, double socket coupling, single socket coupling, pipe cap, pipe plug, internal and external threaded joints, union, branch pipe socket, ect. The same as socket welded pipe fittings, tee and cross are classified into equal diameter and reducing diameter. Internal and external threaded joints can be divided into hexagonal and headless types.

C. Pipe fittings of mixed connecting type
Pipe fittings of mixed connecting type include tee, cross, bend, coupling applied in forging pipes of mixed socket welded and threaded type, socket welded, threaded and butt welding branch pipe socket, and reducing pipes connected by one or two methods of butt, socket of thread. The characteristics of such pipe fittings are different connection methods according to different process requirement, so as to meet the needs of piping design. Among them, the reducing range of tapered pipe is larger than that of reducer, divided into equal diameter and different diameter.
